oh one more thing...
so last night, after a couple glasses of wine, rylie decides it would be hilarious if she showed us just how big her mouth is. she proceeded by fitting the whole rim of a wine glass into her mouth. it was one of the funniest things i have ever witnessed. don't worry, there are pictures.
oh and everytime i eat a meal with my madre, she plays a playlist that consists of ballads from gloria estavan, maria carey, and michael bolton. i thought you should know.

the sound of music
hooolllaaaa. i'm doing so well about keeping up with my blog! be proud of me.
so last night was our first night to go out and it was soooo fun!! rylie, sharay (the chick from holland), rue, julia, brett and i met up for dinner. oh! interesting story, so on the way i got on the wrong bus, as i tend to do, and ended up wasting 30 minutes of my life. anyways, back to last night. so we found this really good restaraunt called Giovani's and the walls were covered in wine bottles. After dinner we went to the Irish Pub (anna, are you proud?) and hung out there for a little while. they had a bunch of liqour displayed and i saw one called Highland Park. haha i took a picture of it..However, i forgot that thingy that transfers my pictures onto my computer so you will have to wait until i get back to the states to see any of them. i know you're disapointed, but we'll get through it together.
So i decided when i woke up that i wanted to listen to the sound of music soundtrack on the bus ride to school. that was the best decision i have made all day. those songs put me in the best mood ever!
School today didn't start until 10 and ended at 11, which was nice. oh and i heard they may be shutting down the school due to the swine flu. in that case, we would have to cancel class until they found another building. fiiinnneee meeeee.
now rylie, sharay, and i are at the only legit place to shop. i'm exciteddddddd. we're eating right now at this place with wifi, and i just ordered pizza for the 80th time since i've been here. pizza is just about the only word on the menu that i understand. i just looked at cuda's pictures from justin's lake house and it made me homesick. it looked like so much fun! i wish i could have gone. but i guess Argentina is pretty cool too. hhhokkkaaay i'm done. bye.

well heeeeellllllllooooo,
sorry about the debbie downer post last time. it will be my last. well rylie and i are at a cafe right now so i thought i'd update my super cool blog. because only super cool people have blogs.
anyways, today was our first real day of school. we had placement tests to see which level we are in. Julia, Rue, Brett, Rylie, and I are all in the same one! Hooray! I feel like I've learned a lot more Spanish, but I still have no idea what anyone is saying half the time. My madre and I mostly use hand signals.
So I met Katy, the girl who is studying abroad from Kansas (not UTD...i got confused...tippy) and staying across the street and she seems really cool! She reminds me of a mix between Kendall Johnson and Stroupe...so it goes without saying that she's a badass. And she has a nose ring, which really makes me miss mine. So mom and dad, don't be surprised if i come home with a nose ring. Shearin, where did you get your ears double pierced here last year? Or do you know where a nice place is to get it done? Anyway, Katy came over to help me with my local cell last night and after like an hour of messing with it, we got it working. thank the good Lord. i feel like it takes me at least an hour to do anything here. So now that i have that and my calling cards figured out, i am just a bit more relaxed.
so Sieta is this like 4 hour period everyday, from 1 to about 4, where the entire town shuts down. Everybody leaves work and school to go home, have tea, eat, and sleep. this country literally has a national nap time...every.day. it's wonderful. i've gotten to catch up on my Lost epis.
uhhh i don't know what else to put. i kinda hate blogging.

sooo....so far my trip has been...interesting, to say the least. on the plane ride there, i took an Ambient my father gave me on an empty stomach and woke up dripping in a cold sweat. later on the flight, i threw up. yes. threw up in front of dozens of strangers. safe it say, i made i lasting first impression.
My host mother speaks no English at all. Convenient, i know. She is the seriously one of the sweetest people ever though. We went to an internet cafe and got on freetranslation.com. We typed paragraphs and translated them so we could communicate, and she told me that she doesn't just want her house to be somewhere i go to change, eat and sleep, but she wants us to be like family. how cute is that? also, the fact that she is like 4 ft 8 probably has something to do with her cuteness. she's like a cute little munchkin! One downside, besides not being able to understand anything she says, is that she loves whales. if you know me at all, you know that whales are the one thing on the earth that petrify me. Anyway, there isn't much hot water and no internet. At least I know that the F on the shower stood for "frio" and not "farenheit" (rylie). I feel like living in the states has spoiled me. I do not understand how people live like this.
Anyways, the first day I was here she drove me around and gave me a lot a lot of food! I don't know how most of them are so skinny. They eat SO much! Rylie and Kendall Argo live about 5 minutes from me, so I went with them to walk around downtown which was fun! We found this one street with a lot of restaraunts and stuff, so we've been coming back here a bunch. When i got back we ate dinner (at 10:00 PM) then watched Benjamin Button...in english with spanish subtitles. haha there was this one part in the movie where cate blanchet turns to brad pitt and goes "make love to me" and my host mom goes "Me tambien!!!" (me too) hahaha she is so great. i hate not being able to communicate with her very well....
hey anna if you are reading this, do you remember when you told me that everyone speaks english? you lied. thanks for preparing me.
Last night, rylie, kendall, chandler and me went out to eat for dinner #1 because we couldn't wait until 10 and rylie unknowingly ordered a liter of beer. haha it was huuuge! then i got home, watched some episodes of friends with Celia, my host mother, then ate a second dinner. yeeeaaahh...typical.
Today was the first day of school and we basically just did an orientation then ate a 2 1/2 hour lunch. it lasted forreeevveerrrrr. but i got to see julia, brett, and rue!! they live like 30 minutes away, which sucks. This weekend we are alll going to this ranch to tango and ride horses. that's kind of irrelevant, but i just wanted to throw that in there. knowing me, i'll get the one horse that gallops away from everyone else and stops to poop a lot.
oh! and this girl from UTD (in dallas) is studying abroad and is staying with the family across the street! she's been in san juan, but i think i get to meet her tonight or tomorrow. maybe she'll help translate. seriously guys, if you ever go to a foreign country, LEARN THE LANGUAGE! because this sucks.
okay i'm sick of blogging. lateerrrrr
